Doctor Visit 1 of ??

By Cyndi
May 25, 2010

We went for our first doctor visit to confirm everything was progressing and as you might already know, we were shocked again!  I had found Dr S from a friend and had met him late last year.  Coincidentally he belongs to the same temple Matt & I attend.

First up, ultrasounds -- yup, they jump right on in there.  This is how it went:
Dr: How have you been feeling?
C: A little tired, hungry and a little nauseous.  Not too bad compared to other people.
Dr:  Everyone is different.
Action: Ultrasound started.  Dr moves the thingy around.  Matt & I have no clue what he's doing.
Dr:  (has baby A on the screen and says) let's check the heartbeat.  145 beats per minute.  That's good!  Now, let's check the other one.
C: (heart is racing, not sure if this is a dream) You're joking right?
Dr: baby B is 143 beats per minute.  And current due date is January 7, 2011 (full term / 40 weeks)

Matt and I were in shock and almost to the point of laughter.  Twins???  Matt and I had joked about twins, but never thought it would actually happen!
Dr S moved the ultrasound equipment around to capture both babies in one screen shot and then turned on the 3D view for another picture.
We moved into the doctor's office for a chat, and asked again, two right?  Yes, there are two!  We gathered some information on how twins change the pregnancy and some basic things we needed to know right away.  And now the fun begins to determine how to tell our family and friends out exciting news!  More to come during the next two visits in June.
