1.40 Finally a "normal" week! Happy New Year!

September 18, 2012
By Cyndi

For the second time this month, it is a short week for me.  I wish every week could be 3 or 4 days.  I know, I will keep hoping.  Matt worked an evening shift on Saturday, so we spent the morning at a local park and running a few quick errands.  Even though it was only me when they woke up from nap until bedtime, somehow, I felt more energized at the end of the day!  Plus, the park we visited was completely empty since we were there before 10am.

We also celebrated Rosh Hashana.  I was adamant on taking the guys to services, so we decided that Erev of RH was the best (45 min service) and lightly attended.  We got there about 10 minutes before, picked out seats and took the guys on a little walk around.  We sat them between us and we prayed that we wouldn't need to make a quick exit.  There was a silent prayer time early on and let's just say they don't understand silence yet.  Otherwise, I think they did great.  Mostly because we kept their mouths busy with bags of goldfish and finished the service up with a sippy full of milk!  Whatever works, right?

We practiced a few new words on the way to and from temple.  L'shana Tova (Happy New Year), Rabbi & Temple.  We will keep trying them.  We plan to take them to the last service on Yom Kippur before we break the fast.

L'shana Tova to any who celebrate!!

Updated list below: (I will try to update this through their two year appointment, since they look for them to have 50-100 words)

1.39 Words, words, WORDS!

September 11, 2012
By Cyndi

Besides our living quarters changing, the boys have changed a lot in the past few weeks.   We always heard that language blossoms from 20-24 months.  Let's just say, we've hit that mark right on.  It's crazy how many things they are saying that they didn't say two weeks ago.  Let me try to list:

Word Count: Ball, Cheese, Bye, Uh Oh, bubu (bubble), Down, Choo Choo, Beep Beep, Airplane, Shoe, Sock, Train, Hi, Help Me, More, Water, Milk, Puzzle, Pretzel, Mickey Mouse, Fan, All Done, Oh no, Dog, Mommy, Daddy, Mail,

They transitioned amazingly to their new daycare.  This center has amazing activities and I love their teachers!  They have a theatre, active arts, art studio, large gym, multiple playgrounds and snacks in little guy sizes for the way home!

When my dad came out to help us move, he stopped at Nana's house to pick up the boys' wagon that we now have room for.  It has been a hit!!

As for house projects, slowly we are trying to cross items off the never-ending to-do list.  The powder room is complete after spray painting the mirror frame (which is actually a medicine cabinet).

We have also removed the arms and trays for T&Z's highchairs and now they eat from the table with a plate for every meal.  We needed to make this transition and while it hasn't been pretty for all meals (read: plate thrown on floor, food everywhere), they needed this "upgrade".  We have also been serving them what we are eating.  They've eaten raviolis, taco meat & rice, fish, and raw zucchini & ranch.

1.38 A new normal ...

September 4, 2012
By Cyndi

First off, how is it September?  Seriously, what happened to the first 8 months of 2012?  We survived the first move out of the townhouse and have been sleeping at the house for four nights now.  We also opened Hotel Alderson with our first house guests, college friends Deb, Rob & their daughter Edy!

The townhouse is up for sale and we have had a lot of showings.  Hopefully an agreeable offer will come in and we can get that process underway.

I will leave you with a few pictures.  I haven't had time to sort through, so patience please :)

Flashcards with all three kids!

We opened our first bottle of the wine we shipped back from Italy.  We had always planned on opening it once we moved and since Rob & Deb were here, they enjoyed some too.  Now we need to find 11 more special occasions to open the rest!

Tyler & Zach switched daycares today.  Tyler walked into the new room right away and Zach needed an extra minute or two to watch before he was ready.  They did great and the reports were super cute from their new teachers.

On the house, we have started doing some upgrades.  The boys' room now has a fan & we've changed out all of the fixtures in the powder room.  Who knew a powder room would have a medicine cabinet (they must have installed it in the wrong room, because the master doesn't have one)!  So instead of replacing it, we are trying to refinish the frame.  We'll see how our DIY project works out!

Until next week ......
