3.27 3.5 is no joke & Brewfest

By Cyndi
June 25, 2014

My dad asked last night on our weekly chat, "How are T&Z?"  My response "It has been awful."  And there was no exageration there.

Even with Uncle Jason in town this weekend, their behavior was still bad.  We had plans to head to a winery on Saturday morning, but Zach was crying on and off for three plus hours about someone looking at him wrong, holding his hand the wrong way, Tyler playing with a toy that he wanted, and on and on and on.

Bedtime is a complete disaster.  When Matt works an evening shift, it takes me 45 minutes to get them to use the potty, put on pjs & brush their teeth.  When we are both here, the time is barely better and still awful.  Nothing seems to be working and it is wearing on both Matt & I.

On Sunday, we left the boys with their babysitter and volunteered at the beer festival.  The adults had a great time and once home, Z refused to eat dinner -- which was pizza and went to bed with nothing.  Ugh.  Hopefully this will pass quickly because I'm about to break.

3.26 Father's Day

By Cyndi
June 17, 2014

Back to the normal routine and it has been quite busy!!    The boys have been working on primary and secondary colors, tracing, and their letters at school.

We have had a patio installed in the backyard to connect the deck to the basement sliding door and with all of the construction the yard is so torn up, I almost cried at the amount of time it will take to regrow.  Luckily the landscape company will be re-soding later this week, so it should recover quickly.  So I had to get creative and find another activity for Father's Day after Matt made it home from work.  But first, the fellas each had to write their cards.  They wrote their name on the inside and Dad on the outside!

And then it was a little cozy coupe car wash time!  They had a great time and it was so funny to watch them drive their cars around with those sunglasses on.

Happy Father's Day to the guy that keeps our family together!

3.25 A Perfect Chicago weekend

By Cyndi
June 8, 2014

It has been one crazy weekend!  We knew bringing the kids to one of Matt's brother's weddings would be a lot of work and it was but now that we are home and I can look back through the pictures, it was worth it.  No doubt about that! Since we won't be flying anywhere for the remainder of 2014, we used the wedding weekend of Dan & Jill to bring the kids and see all of the family.

We arrived Thursday morning and attended the rehearsal dinner Thursday night.  T&Z lasted until 915p when they were clearly tired, with both heads laying on the dinner table watching the ipad.  On Friday we met up with my side of the family, including Saba & SabaRaba at a park walking distance from the hotel.  It was great to see everyone - my nephew Asher was half interested in the park and half interested in seeing the surrounding neighborhood!

We had the wedding that evening and T&Z did GREAT!  I was so, so, so nervous, but with the help of Aunt Lanie & individual packs of pringles, they watched the ceremony.  They hung out with cousins and GG/Poppa during cocktail hour, were amused with the ipad during dinner and at 920p said "We're read for bed" at which point I scurried out of there to take them back to the hotel for bed while my dad (thank you very much!) sat there while I went back to the wedding for the rest of the festivities.

I had thought for weeks about everything we needed and carried around a huge bag with everything imaginable to try to accommodate their every request and we used almost everything in it; including the spare outfit when Tyler's juice cup spilled everywhere at the post-wedding brunch and he was sopping wet!

What a perfect weekend with all of our family!  (But I do need a while to recover from all of it!)

The only struggles were potty training.  I had the great idea on Memorial Day to tell Tyler we ran out of pull ups in order to "force" him into underwear and to go #2 on the potty.  There have been some ups and downs with lots of rewards to get him to follow through (cupcakes, Mickey Mouse t-shirts, & batman toys).  So the entire weekend in Chicago, they REFUSED to use public bathrooms (toilets are TOO loud & scared them) and didn't poop for almost 3 days.  Let's just say, that Sunday at home helped clear everyone up :)

The weekend before Chicago, we went to Herndon Fest.  T&Z rode their first carnival rides and had a great time having a picnic dinner!  Thanks to Auntie Stacie for helping on the slide since I couldn't do it with my boot!

The remainder of June is busy every weekend, including Father's Day & year #7 volunteering at the NOVA Brewfest!
