3.25 A Perfect Chicago weekend

It has been one crazy weekend!  We knew bringing the kids to one of Matt's brother's weddings would be a lot of work and it was but now that we are home and I can look back through the pictures, it was worth it.  No doubt about that! Since we won't be flying anywhere for the remainder of 2014, we used the wedding weekend of Dan & Jill to bring the kids and see all of the family.

We arrived Thursday morning and attended the rehearsal dinner Thursday night.  T&Z lasted until 915p when they were clearly tired, with both heads laying on the dinner table watching the ipad.  On Friday we met up with my side of the family, including Saba & SabaRaba at a park walking distance from the hotel.  It was great to see everyone - my nephew Asher was half interested in the park and half interested in seeing the surrounding neighborhood!

We had the wedding that evening and T&Z did GREAT!  I was so, so, so nervous, but with the help of Aunt Lanie & individual packs of pringles, they watched the ceremony.  They hung out with cousins and GG/Poppa during cocktail hour, were amused with the ipad during dinner and at 920p said "We're read for bed" at which point I scurried out of there to take them back to the hotel for bed while my dad (thank you very much!) sat there while I went back to the wedding for the rest of the festivities.

I had thought for weeks about everything we needed and carried around a huge bag with everything imaginable to try to accommodate their every request and we used almost everything in it; including the spare outfit when Tyler's juice cup spilled everywhere at the post-wedding brunch and he was sopping wet!

What a perfect weekend with all of our family!  (But I do need a while to recover from all of it!)

The only struggles were potty training.  I had the great idea on Memorial Day to tell Tyler we ran out of pull ups in order to "force" him into underwear and to go #2 on the potty.  There have been some ups and downs with lots of rewards to get him to follow through (cupcakes, Mickey Mouse t-shirts, & batman toys).  So the entire weekend in Chicago, they REFUSED to use public bathrooms (toilets are TOO loud & scared them) and didn't poop for almost 3 days.  Let's just say, that Sunday at home helped clear everyone up :)

The weekend before Chicago, we went to Herndon Fest.  T&Z rode their first carnival rides and had a great time having a picnic dinner!  Thanks to Auntie Stacie for helping on the slide since I couldn't do it with my boot!

The remainder of June is busy every weekend, including Father's Day & year #7 volunteering at the NOVA Brewfest!
