This week has been an interesting one, that's for sure. A few items from the to-do list have been crossed off! Replacement piece for the crib came in and is installed. Curtains are up & we've started to hang the art work. Once the artwork is up, we'll post a picture ...
The issue of Real Simple came out where I am the "Reader of the Month", even though I don't have a subscription. About two months ago, Real Simple posted on Facebook, "What is your unique Hanukkah Tradition?" After reading some of the responses, I crafted a response that it similar to what was printed - edited for space and whatnot. Mine also included the fact that the Isaacs join us, and after submitting, I realized I did not mention that Matt proposed the first year we attended! A few days later, I had a message saying they wanted to print it and asked some additional questions.
Here's the article in case you haven't rushed out to see it in person:
And then there was Monday. After being at work for just a few hours, I began to feel off. By 10am I informed my boss that I would probably have to leave early; I was out at 1030am. I got home and called the OB's office to tell them my symptoms: nauseous, lower back pain, all around achy. The OB said, "You probably don't want to hear this, but you should go to the hospital to have the babies monitored & check you out." I called Matt at work - he had to be taken off position to take my phone call - told him what the doc had said, and he promptly left work to pick me up to head to the hospital.
Once there, they got me into a triage room, and by the time they hooked my up with three monitors (one for contractions and one for each baby), the OB had come in to assess the situation. He thought I might just be dehydrated, though I quickly informed him I had had 60-80 oz of water that morning, which is about my usual intake. He still wanted to hook up an IV and have some blood pulled to be analyzed. Within minutes of the blood draw, my stomach felt really bad and all that liquid was quickly expelled. The nurse said something like, "Wow, you weren't kidding when you said how much you drank today." After that, I felt much better, not great, but improved! The OB returned, said the babies were fine and that the blood tests came back normal with a slightly elevated white blood cell count, indicating my body is probably in the process of fighting something off. So we stayed just a little bit longer, and were released.
Total Time at the hospital: 3 hrs. Not bad for our first trip. I took yesterday off to relax and build back some energy. Here's lessons learned from today:
1. Don't hesitate to call OB ... it was nice to know the babies are fine
2. From the time I called Matt at work, it took us one hour to get to the hospital. Not bad!!
3. Triage (and maybe all hospital beds) are extremely uncomfortable. It was rock hard and no position was comfortable for me. Looks like we'll be bringing a lot of pillows for me.
I want to be rewarded just for sitting down! :) Glad to hear that you and the babies are OK!!
