By Matt
Cyndi was able to make it out of bed late last night to go down to the NICU to see the boys -- with the help of a wheelchair. Got up early this morning to head down to NICU for feeding time and again about mid morning. Matt went home to grab a few things, see the dog and then take him to Petsmart for a few days of playing with other dogs (read: sniff doggie butts).
This afternoon Cyndi was able to get a good amount of skin-to-skin time with Baby B and fed Baby A. Speaking of 'A' and 'B' we have decided who is who:
A=Tyler
B=Zachary
And to answer a few of the more common questions coming our way:
- We do not yet know if they are identical or fraternal (awaiting pathology results)
- We are able to go down to see them/help feed/hold them as often as we'd like, almost no restrictions
- Not sure how long they will have to stay in NICU but nurses guess about 1 week
- Since we're not sure how long until they are released, we cannot yet set a date for a bris
- They may or may not go home on the same day
The docs and nurses in the NICU say both boys are doing well, they are just being conservative by having both hooked up to an IV for additional supplement of sugar water and waiting for them to gain some weight in order to more easily retain body heat. They are paying close attention to Tyler's intestines specifically, but he is not requiring any additional medicines. They feel that they are ever so slightly under developed.
Cyndi is doing well also - she is now able to walk (slowly) down to the NICU without assistance. She is just generally sore from the incision, which is expected.
Soon we will be posting more pictures to the Shutterfly account. Link is to the right and password is our last name, all lower case.
We are off to relax a little before dinner and the last trip of the day to feed and hold our little boys.
