I
need another weekend to recover from our weekend! It was packed full
and everyone had lots of fun. Jason arrived early Friday morning and I
dropped him at our house to work
from there and I headed to work. Might I remind you of Jason's last
visit was during pukefest 2012 in September, where T&Z had a virus
that I initially thought was something they ate at school, followed by each of the
rest of us getting the 24 nasty bug?! And he came
back to see us again ..... he termed it like this: "Whether it's warm
hospitality or a specially imported virus, there's always something
good waiting for me."
Matt
and Jason went to a local butcher and picked up some yummy stuff to
grill that night. We then went to a local place for happy hour and
enjoyed some new wines, grabbed the
guys from school and enjoyed the evening -- along with opening one of
our Italian wines we brought back from Tuscany a year ago.
On
Saturday, we talked up heading to the pool, hoping for a more eventful
time than in Dallas, but those hopes flew right on by as they (largely) refused
to get in the water. We only stayed
an hour and in that time Tyler only had water up to his mid calf. Zach did allow me
to take him in the water but only after 40 minutes of me asking and
telling him to look at all of the other kids already in the pool.
Zach
refused to walk around the pool and after multiple warnings, he had a
time out in the corner for running. Yup, there I am .... and there he is. Toddler
parenting is awesome .... ugh!!
After
nap, we headed into the city! T&Z love the drive to the city with
all of the buildings, seeing the metro trains along the highway, tunnels
& bridges .... they are such boys!
We had fabulous pizza at Matchbox and then headed to the Mall to let
them RUN out every last bit of energy before we headed home. (Note to
self: We really need to go into the city more ... it isn't far and
there is so much for T&Z to take in!!)
En route to dinner there were tons of festivals going on in the city. One on the Mall looked like a large pumpkin, but upon further review, it was the .......
On
Sunday, it was our annual volunteering at NOVA Brewfest! Matt and I
have been doing this since their first festival six years ago (when
Jason came too)! Our babysitter came and
watched the boys all day and we enjoyed tasting, pouring and some more
tasting. It was HOT and most of us didn't apply enough sunscreen, oops!
It
was great to see Jason .... It's hard to believe I met him 15 years ago
in Math 271 on my first week at Purdue. Who would have thought back
then, the girl in the front row & the
guy towards the back being loud would make it to now! And I love that
Matt and him get along so well. We are so lucky to have friends who fly
in town to see us -- and T&Z .... See you again soon, Uncle Jason!
Until next week, when hopefully the sun burn goes away and we are slightly more rested (fat chance)!
