Sunday was a tough day for me. Why Sunday? The boys behaved and stuck to their schedule. They ate decently. I went to a sprinkle for a friend having her 2nd baby. So why? Well, it was Tour de Cure. For three years, I had been helping the American Diabetes Association with Tour (a bike event to raise money for the ADA) and since the boys were born, I haven't had the time or energy to help. They have asked for my help, in as little or large capacity that I could handle. It is so hard to go the day of to see the event and not be helping ensure its success. Today is almost as hard as Mother's Day for me.
When I moved to DC, about 9 months after my mom passed away, I needed something to keep me busy, outside of wedding planning. I helped with the ADA walks but then found Tour. They welcomed me with open arms and quickly I was responsible for all route signage on more than 150 miles of roads & trails. I also ran the command center on the day of the event, taking all calls from distressed/lost/confused riders & all rest stops. At the end of the event, I ensured every rider made it back and loved the feeling of knowing how important my volunteering was an integral part of the success of the event to bring riders back year after year.

I miss Tour ... I miss that I was honoring my mom .... ugh, life is not easy.
Hopefully in another year, I will have the time and energy to volunteer again and hopefully one day Matt, Tyler and Zach can all ride Tour too.
On to happier things, it's June and we're trying to keep busy, since guys need busy to not be bored. I can confidently say that Zach has his first words! He will say ball and cheese. Tyler will say cheese but needs more prompting than Zach.

You have already done so much to help the ADA and I am sure you will do much more in the future. It sounds like you are being hard on yourself. You are honoring your Mom by raising your children in a way that would make her proud. The pictures of your boys are adorable. Thank you for linking to Multiples Monday on Capri + 3.
