We survived!! The fellas survived!! It was an all-around fabulous weekend for everyone. The trip was short but long enough to fit in visits with family and friends!
We arrived on Friday and immediately picked up Lou Malanati's pizza, a quick trip for beverages at Binnys and headed to my grandpa's for a Gimpel family visit. Everyone was able to stop by so it was so nice to chat and see my nephew Asher who is exploring everywhere! I've never seen two large pizzas disappear so quickly!
We headed to the hotel, spent an hour ironing everything (okay, Matt spent that hour) and headed to see friends before the rehearsal dinner. It was totally random that Jason and Swiss were in town to visit a friend while we were there!! So great to see them for a bit, but then it was time to head to the rehearsal dinner. Food was amazing and it was great to meet some of Lanie's immediate family!
Saturday was another busy day. Kristen (my bestie) and I headed into the city for brunch and a little shopping. So fabulous to have some time to catch up! Matt met up with a high school friend and then had some boy time with Michael and Daniel. I hung out with the bride before I had my hair appointment.
The wedding was held at City Winery in the West Loop. We had pictures before, watched the ketubah signing and then the ceremony close to sunset. The location totally fit the couple and everything went perfectly!! I chatted during cocktail hour but as soon as the dance floor opened, I stayed out there all night! Matt hung out and caught up with everyone. When the music stopped at 1am, my feet hurt and are still recovering two days later!
Sunday morning was family brunch, following by a quick lunch with another friend, Deb and Rob who are pregnant with identical twin boys! So great to chat with them and reassure them that it isn't so bad.
During the weekend, Miss Kiersten gave updates every few hours. She was amazing with the fellas and we are so incredibly lucky to have her! Meigs slept right next to her bed in the guest room and I think the fellas had just as much fun as we did.
Now its recovery time and one relaxing weekend before a busy rest of May and Chicago wedding #2 with the fellas!
